Introduction
The German Society for Sterile Supply e.V. was founded in Tübingen in November 1996.
The primary goal of the DGSV is to devise a uniform, high-quality standard for the entire sterile supply cycle. The intention is to extend and enhance to this effect the exchange of information and multidisciplinary cooperation with the medical and nonmedical disciplines involved in sterile supply, conduct expert discussions at a national and international level and initiate, develop and support at a European level programmes for education, training and continuing education as well as research projects.
To implement these goals, four expert committees for education, quality assurance, public relations and law have first of all been formed. The education committee, in particular, is working closely with the European association, the European Society of Hospital Sterile Supply e.V. Specialist training courses for sterilisation personnel, which comply with the guidelines formulated by these specialist societies, can be accredited by the DGSV. The training regulations of the DGSV are outlined in E-DIN 58946, Part 6 as "Requirements for Personnel".
Other bodies of the association in addition to the general meeting include the advisory board and the board of directors. Anyone employed in the domain of sterile supply or who is interested in the work of the association can apply for membership.
